Leroy Merlin is starting a new Business Unit in South Africa. A new country, new adventure and new opportunities…With the sole ambition of being homeowners’ partner in Home Improvement.  Leroy Merlin will endeavour to respond to customer needs through innovative products.  


In order to support the launch of this new company, we are looking for a Community Manager to assist our Marketing Department.


Purpose of the role


The role of the Community Manager is to structure the process of all communications with different communities that connect with the brand, network to create relationships and ultimately build the company’s brand, both online and offline.

Main responsibilities:


  • Content creation – writing blog posts, articles, newsletters, communications materials, and material for social media channels.
  • Social media marketing – creating, managing and growing the company’s presence through blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other strategically relevant online properties.
  • Events and event planning – attending industry and planning meetups for your community.
  • Customer relations – responsible for customer support – answering questions however they come in (phone, e-mail, Twitter) and managing any online feedback forums.
  • Communications/marketing strategy – the Community Manager is responsible for creating strategic marketing/communications plans to provide direction for the company’s public-facing communications.
  • Analytics – Using Google Analytics and other measurement tools to provide reports on metrics, and continually find ways to improve on those metrics through testing and new initiatives.




The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience and attributes:


  • Bachelor degree desired
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in a communication role
  • At ease with figures and market trends and analytics, able to get results and put in place an action plan
  • Good presentation, interpersonal and communication skills, able to influence and adapt to different stakeholders, internally and externally
  • Demonstrated competencies in collaboration, customer focus, communication and achieving results in alignment with business goals
  • Energetic, creative, thinking-out-of-the-box
  • Experience in brand, online/digital marketing
