Description:

The Non-Shrink Cementitious Grout 25KG DURAGROUT ABE is a high-quality grouting compound that is ready for use by simply adding water. It is made from Portland cement and contains graded siliceous aggregate and chemical reagents that prevent shrinkage during curing. This grout is designed to be versatile, with a consistency range that can be adjusted to suit various applications, whether it requires a flowable, fluid, or ram consistency.

Uses:
  • Bedding: Ideal for column base plates, machinery base plates, bearing plates, and crane rails.
  • Grouting: Suitable for grouting anchor bolts, cables, starter bars, and top steel.
  • Repairing: Can be used for filling cavities in concrete.
Advantages:
  • Quickly develops a placeable consistency for easy application.
  • Remains cohesive and does not segregate, ensuring uniformity in the grouting process.
  • Does not shrink, providing a reliable and durable grouting solution.
Design Criteria:

A minimum clearance of 50 mm is required between the bed and base for optimal grouting. In smaller areas where flow is not restricted, a minimum thickness of 25 mm is recommended. When grouting anchor bolts, it is necessary to use three times the bolt diameter. Smaller clearances should be grouted with one of the epoxy compounds from the epidermix range.

Surface Preparation:

Before applying the grout, ensure that the contact surfaces are clean, sound, and free from dust and shutter release oils. Concrete surfaces must be thoroughly pre-wetted, but excess surface water should be removed prior to placing the grout. Surface temperatures should not be below 5 °C. It is important to make provisions for the escape of entrapped air and ensure that shutters are watertight and sealed to prevent water suction.

Bonding/Priming:

No primer is required unless specified for structural bonding purposes.

Mixing:

Mixing can be done using a pan mixer, drum mixer, or a slow-speed electric drill fitted with a suitable paddle. For a standard 25 kg pocket of grout, add 3.5 L of clean water to the mixing vessel. While continuously stirring, add the dry powder until the mixture is free from lumps. Then add additional water (500 ml to 1 L) and continue mixing until a smooth, creamy consistency is achieved. Total mixing time should be approximately three minutes.

Extending:

If extending the grout with clean stone, a minimum depth of 100 mm is required. Add the estimated water for a fluid consistency, followed by the dry grout. After mixing for 2-3 minutes, add 12 L of 13-16 mm clean stone. It is important not to add any additional water to the mix after extending, as it may affect the quality and performance of the grout.

Coverage:

One bag of 25 kg grout will yield approximately 0.0125 m3 (12.5 L) of grout when using 4.5 L of water. When extending the grout, the yield can increase to 0.023 m3 (23 L) using the same water demand and a stone bulk density of 1.2.

Application:

Mixed grout should be poured into the cavity at one point only to avoid air entrapment. For best results, the mixed grout should be poured within 10 minutes of mixing, but definitely within 30 minutes. If the grout is not placed immediately, keep it agitated. Grouting mixture older than 30 minutes should be discarded. The grout can be compacted by gentle rodding or punning, or applied using standard low-pressure grouting pumps. Do not re-temper the grout if the consistency drops due to time lapse.

Cleaning:

Grout should be removed from tools and mixing equipment immediately after use and before it sets. Use clean water for cleaning. Cured material can be removed mechanically or with an inhibited acid etch.

Protection on Completion:

Grout surfaces should be protected from wind or high temperatures that can cause rapid drying. Cover the surface with damp sacks and ensure they do not dry out.

Temperature and Relative Humidity:

Do not apply the grout if the surface temperature is below 5 °C.
