How to lay clip-together vinyl boards or squares

Rejuvenate your flooring with vinyl boards or squares. They can either clip together or be self-adhesive. In either case, laying them is extremely simple. We will show you how to lay clip together vinyl boards.

1. The right tools

Protect your garden from being overlooked and from the wind by installing wooden fencing panels. The fence post sits on top of galvanized fence post spikes set into concrete.

2. Preparing to lay

Remove the old carpet or lino and clean off any remaining adhesive with a solvent. Clean the floor thoroughly. The floor should be completely dry and smooth. You can level a very uneven floor with finishing mortar. You do not need an undercoat unless you want to cover up any small bumps.

3. Laying the boards

Calculate the surface area to be covered adding just a little because wastage due to cutting is minimal. Store the board's at an ambient temperature 24 hours before laying. For a better visual effect you should place the board's parallel with the longer side of the room but you could also lay them in the direction of the light coming in through the windows. To allow for expansion around the edges of the room, place 5 millimeter blocks upright all along the wall. For this type of board remove the long tongue with a cutting blade and put it in the corner against the blocks. Then place the next board in line with the first, making sure you leave some room for expansion along the wall. Tap gently with the rubber mallet on the board's to clip them together. At the end of a row measure the gap from the edge of the board to the wall block ideally at least 25 centimeters. To mark the cutting line, lay the next board against the previous one but with the two tongues touching. With the set square, mark and draw the cutting line in line with the end of the previous board.

Cut the vinyl once or twice with the cutting blade against a metal ruler then bend to break it cleanly.

Lay the boards in rows one after another staggering each by a third of the board.

Offer up the next board and insert the tongue into the groove then push down to clip them together. Place the next board with its groove opposite the other board.
Complete each row in this manner.

4. Special Cuts

Place a board in the corner not forgetting the expansion blocks and mark the length and width. Then extend the line with a pencil. Cut across the entire width of the board and then cut twice along the length of the board with the cutting blade and bend to break it.

Put the board against the pipe exactly in the position it will occupy when in place.

Draw an outline of the pipe allowing five millimeters for expansion.

Then put an expansion block against the wall and mark the edge back another five millimeters.

The profile gauge allows you to copy the shape of pipes as well as moldings.

At the end for the row adjacent to the wall, position the board on the previous line and then place another board on top which you should slide towards the wall until it hits the expansion block. Follow the line of the board to mark the cutting line. Juggle material and colors have clipped together floorboards and squares to make them look like real parquet flooring in any room in the house. The floor is sturdy and easy to maintain.
