applicable to South African Conditions:
• Always use appliances with a low pressure regulator.
• Operating pressure: 2.8kPa (28mbar)
• Type of gas: LPG
• Consumption: see manufacturers table under G30
• Please read instruction booklet for correct use and safe operation of appliance.
• In case of gas leak, turn off the gas supply immediately and ventilate the room. Contact your gas installer to rectify the problem.
• Ventilation is vital for the efficient performance of all appliances and for the safety of the occupants of the room in which the appliance is installed. The air flow necessary for combustion is at least 2m3/hr for each KW of rated power.
• Sealing washers must be correctly located and in good order.
• Installation and gas/electrical connections must be carried out by a qualified technician in accordance with the manufactures instructions and in full compliance with current laws and safety regulations.
• Electrical safety can only be guaranteed if the product is connected to a suitable earth connection.
• It is dangerous to modify or attempt to modify the appliance. In the event of a malfunction, do not attempt to repair the appliance yourself, but contact a qualified technician.
If the cooktop has a glass lid, observe the following:
• Never place hot pans on the lid when it is lowered.
• Remove any liquids spilled on the lid before raising it.
• The lid may break if heated, switch off all burners and electric hotplates and wait till they are cool before lowering the lid.
• It is advisable to keep young children well away from the ovens when in use. Do not line oven walls with aluminium foil. It risks melting the enamel or causing deterioration to the inside.
• Use pots and pans of the correct size in relation to the burner size.
• Only the base of the pan should be heated.
• Do not place an empty pan on a lit gas burner.
• The delivery of gas to the burners is controlled by the knobs that in turn control the valves. The symbols, depending on the various models, may be printed on the knobs or on the control panel. By moving the indicator to coincide with the printed symbols, the following adjustments can be made:
• Tap closed no delivery of gas.
• Maximum capacity, maximum gas delivery.
• Minimum capacity, minimum gas delivery.
• For minimum gas delivery, turn the knob until the indicator points to the small flame and never towards the off position.
• To switch the burner off, turn the knob clockwise to the position “tap closed’.
• The main or wall gas tap should be turned off when the cooker is not in use.
• Never use warming compartment for storing flammable liquids or items which do not withstand heat, such as wood, paper, aerosol cans, matches etc.
• Make frequent checks on rubber hose connections, ensuring that they are well away from hot surfaces, that there are no sharp bends or kinks and that they are in good condition.
• Do not use too much water when washing the hob surface. Take care that no water or other substances enter the burner housing holes, as this may be dangerous.
• Spark plugs for ignition must always be kept clean and dry.
• The pan stand grids are designed to make the appliance easy and safe to use.
• Always check that the pan stand grids are correctly positioned before using the appliance.
• Always ensure that the burner bases and burner caps are correctly positioned on the hob before using it.
Maintenance:
• The appliances do not require any particular maintenance unless something goes wrong; nonetheless it is advisable to have them checked once every two years.
• If the knobs become difficult to turn, or if there is a smell of gas, shut the gas supply tap and call after sales service.
• Faulty taps must be replaced along with their gaskets.
Additional information regarding the installation of freestanding stoves, ovens and hobs supplied to the South African Market.
1. After removing the burner caps for cleaning, always make sure that these are re-assembled and positioned correctly and on the correct size burner, and that the ignition and flame failure thermocouple are not damaged in any manner. It is important that these are correctly assembled and fit correctly into the location holes provided in the burner heads. The burners will not function correctly if these are not re-assembled properly and can cause burn back on the burners, and the burners will not function correctly if these are not properly located.
2. In the event of burn-back, where the flame burns back to the jet, immediately turn the gas supply off at the control valve on the panel. After ensuring the flame is extinguished, wait for 1 minute and re-light the appliance in the normal manner. Should the appliance again burn back, close the control valve and call a service technician. Do not use the appliance again until the service technician has declared that it is safe to do so.
3. The regulation of the minimum flow rate of gas to the burners is carried out in the factory. The units are supplied with LPG jets fitted, however it might be necessary to regulate the minimum flame again. This can be done by igniting the burner and letting it operate on the maximum setting for approximately 10 minutes. Rotate the knob to the minimum position. Remove the knob by pulling it off the valve rod, and then with a small flat head screwdriver adjust the minimum setting by turning the by-pass screw clockwise to decrease the flame or counter clockwise to increase the flam. The adjustment screw (by-pass) is located on the body of the valve at the bottom. After any injectors have been replaced or adjusted always make sure that the flame is blue, steady and quiet and produces no detachment from the burner and will not cause back burn between the regulation from maximum to minimum.
4. Gas type: LPG
Gas consumption: Refer to the instruction manual
Operating pressure: 2.8 kPa (Note: this appliance may only be used with a LPG regulator of 2.8 kPa outlet pressure and that complies with requirements of SABS 1237)
5. This appliance may only be installed a registered gas technician that is registered by the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Safety Association of Southern Africa (LPGSASA). The registered gas technician will supply you with a compliance certificate, please keep this with your proof of purchase. The gas installation needs to be done in accordance with SANS 10087-1 (SABS 087-1). Please make sure that the gas technician has advised as to where the location of the isolation or shut off valve is on the gas line, and how to operate this.
