Top coat is used in the final coat of paint to seal and protect the underlying fibreglass mat from water.
Fibreglass lining pools are typically build-up of multiple layers - a resin coat on the concrete or fibreglass surface that act as primer, then an interior barrier layer of fibre matt followed by resin and surface tissue paper; and another coat of resin to give the lining structural strength. The final coat or Top Coat seals the fibreglass pool lining and act as a interior water-tight barrier.
Important:
- Surfaces should always be dry before application of Top Coats and kept dry for at least 8 hours from application
- If it rains, dry and keep dry as much as possible
- Allow Top Coats in swimming pools to stand without water for at least 7 days to cure properly before filling
- Do not apply Top Coat in air temperatures below 17 Degrees Celsius or above 30 Degrees Celsius to ensure optimum results. Extreme temperatures will cause too slow or too fast curing of Top Coats and resins.
- Add Catalyst Hardner to the Top Coat in a ratio of 1% (hot weather) to 3% (cold weather) per volume, that is between 10ml and 30ml per kiligram of product
- Remember the more Catalyst you add, the faster hardning takes place and the potlife (paint time) decreases.
- Do not add less than 1% Catalyst and not more than 3% Catalyst because it may weaken the final product
- We suggest that you mix the Top Coat in batches of not more than 5 kg at a time
Not included:
- Catalyst hardner

- POOL RESIN is used to laminate fibreglass matt and surface tissue together to form a watertight lining
- FIBREGLASS TOP COAT: SKYBLUE or WHITE TOP COAT is used as final coat for the entire interior surface of a pool to protect the fibreglass matt against water, while CLEAR TOP COAT is used as laminating and protective paint on areas where MOSAIC TISSUE SHEETS / MOTIFS are placed
- FIBREGLASS PUTTY POWDER (DE) are mixed with resin and catalyst to form a putty to fill holes and uneven areas
- FIBREGLASS CATALYST HARDENER that is mixed in a small quantity with TOP COATS & RESINS
