Product Information

For a 50 000 Litre of pool water, a dose of 2kg to 6kg Africhem Boost & Buffer at a time will normally be sufficient but that entire depends on the actual TA and pH levels.  Total Alkalinity is seen as a "buffering agent" that help to reduce pH fluctuation.

Ideal level of TA in swimming pool water is between 80 and 120ppm (parts per million) and that of pH from 7.2 to 7.8

Dosage and treatment:

  • Test the TA level with Aquachek Professional (100 Test Strips) or 5-in-1 Test Strips (30 tests)
  • Determine the amount of Africhem Boost & Buffer according to the instruction on packaging
  • Mix Africhem Boost & Buffer in a bucket with water and add to the deep end of your swimming pool
  • Retest the TA after 48 hours of continuous water circulation by the pump
  • If the TA is correct, add 2kg Africhem Boost & Buffer at a time
  • pH reacts quick and you may retest it level after 8 hours of continuous water circulation by the pump

Keeping the correct level pH is essential to keep the water clean, safe, balanced and healthy for swimmers.

General notes on sanitisation of pool water:

  • We recommend the use of Africhem Big 5 chlorine floaters to kill bacteria
  • Test Free Chlorine Levels with Aquachek Professional (100 Test Strips) or 5-in-1 Test Strips (30 tests)
  • Ideal levels of Free Chlorine: 1 - 3ppm
  • Too high or low pH (potential of hydrogen) of water may cause skin irritations and burning eyes
  • Test your swimming pool's water every 2 weeks or more regularly
  • When a solution is neutral the pH is 7.0
  • When the pH drops below 7, the water becomes acidic
  • When the pH raises above 7, the water becomes alkaline
  • Use to check the level of TA and pH in your pool
  • Chlorine works at its best to sanitise the water when the TA and pH levels are correct
