Tomato is a prolific grower and is great with salads and as an addition to soups, stews and other dishes. Great with Basil. If the temperature is kept consistently and sufficiently warm, your tomato seeds will usually germinate within 5 to 10 days. Best to keep temperature range 21 to 27C. The lower the temperature the slower the germination. However, temperatures below 10C or above 35C are poor for germination. Seeds can be started in seedling trays and transplanted to the garden after the last frost of the year. Tomato does not like too much water, so care should be taken to avoid overwatering. As the plant grows, it will need support, particularly when it fruits. Support each plant with a stake or trellis.
