My journey as a part student in the Learnership program offered by the company started on the 01st of September 2017. I joined Leroy Merlin with no previous work experience with the goal of gaining knowledge and a better understanding of what the company is about. I was assigned to different departments to fulfill different duties such as cashier, filing, Administration, sales floor assistant, basic housekeeping and supply chain receiving, etc. Experiencing the different departments and how they work has given me an opportunity to understand both theory and practical applications. Which made me realize how agile Leroy Merlin is as a company with exciting operating systems which run efficiently. I further understood the different application of concepts which further proves that Leroy Merlin is determined to make a difference in customer service, product offering, and employee engagement. I have truly learned a lot in the company. The values of honesty, generosity, and respect for others, resonate closely with my belief system, which has made working at Leroy Merlin super refreshing and fun. Also learned how to interact with different and difficult customers with special requirements and expectations. I love Leroy Merlin’s spirit of sharing knowledge with everyone and being open-minded to new Ideas.

I have been fortunate enough to participate in the Leroy Merlin Graduate programme fromNovember 2020 to October 2021 as a Finance intern. I had no formal work experience at thetime but was able to integrate very well with the help of my team leader, manager, andcolleagues who would always avail themselves to guide and build me. I had opportunities to work with the various suppliers, and various departments within the organization and even had exposure to the store and the bloodline of the company which is our customers like with every job out there, I have had challenges that grew me as a professional and made me appreciate the transparent and inclusive environment that Leroy Merlin creates for all its employees irrespective of the rank. I have since been granted a permanent contract as a Junior Accountant in November 2021 and promoted to Accountant Creditors in April 2022.
